Employee Risk Screening Program
In the early weeks of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Taiba Hospital was losing several dozen staff at a time to quarantine because of risky exposures. At any given point, the hospital had 50-60 staff in isolation, which impacted its ability to provide care for its patients.
To remedy this, the hospital initiated a screening tool to evaluate the risk of staff being exposed to COVID. The tool took into account a staff member’s living quarters, location, travelling routes, comorbidities, and specific behaviors. The tool allowed hospital management to determine which of its staff were at high risk from catching COVID. They could then act proactively by either removing high-risk staff members or monitoring them to ensure they do not catch the virus. Staff were also divided into two teams who worked separately, minimizing the risk of exposure. As a result of these initiatives, not a single employee contracted COVID while at work.
