Fortis Hospital Mohali
Mission Suraksha-COVID -19 Preparedness @FHM
At the start of the pandemic, India’s Fortis Healthcare Mohali assembled a core group of experts tasked with formulating its COVID-19 response strategy. This team, composed of top management and subject matter expert clinicians, identified the need for infrastructure modification and increased staff training to deal with the pandemic.
In line with this, the hospital rolled out several structural modifications. The hospital was divided into hot and cold zones, allowing it to serve both COVID-positive and non-COVID patients. A flu clinic was set up outside the hospital premises, and a sampling booth was set up to serve walk-in patients. Negative pressure isolation rooms were also established for COVID-19 patients, while healthcare workers were in enclosed booths with positive pressure.
The hospital also set up its own testing center and added 80 beds specifically for dealing with COVID patients. To ease the burden on healthcare facilities, Fortis Hospital Mohali also pioneered a home isolation program for less serious cases, and provided post-discharge support through teleconsultations and home sample collection services.
