Clinique Saint-Luc Bouge
Dashboard for a Covid-19 crisis management strategy
A few months before the COVID-19 crisis, a new management software for workload calculation was implemented at the Clinique Saint-Luc Bouge. When the crisis started, the hospital management realized that one of the key methods of dealing with the pandemic was to stay ahead of logistics concerns, despite the increase in the number of hospitalizations.
To achieve this, the hospital established an automated dashboard that linked its healthcare electronic patient record (EPR) and its newly implemented management software. This allowed hospital management to follow the total number of suspected and confirmed cases of COVID-19 and track their repartition in the concerned care units. In turn, this allowed the hospital to adapt its response in terms of available human resources and materials. In addition, an automated routine of data extraction allowed us to send the COVID-19 statistic asked by government authorities in a simple and standardized way.
This strategic dashboard can be easily reused for a new wave of COVID-19 contamination or for other needs related to pandemic crisis management. With a few adaptations, it can be used to monitor the annual flu or norovirus pandemics in hospitalized patients. Out of the crisis, the management software is still used by the nurses’ mobile team to spot care units where it is crucial to manage staff workload.
