Aster Transcends the Crisis; Creating Camaraderie

At the height of the pandemic, Aster Hospitals immediately carried out a rapid risk assessment to prepare for the expected onslaught of cases. In response to the pandemic, it rapidly set up two isolation facilities with a total capacity of 500 beds. The hospital’s COVID response team also decided to dedicate its emergency departments to the management of suspected cases, while the wards and ICUs were dedicated to the management of confirmed cases.More severe cases were taken directly to the wards or the ICUs for proper treatment, keeping the number of severe cases in the ER very low. The organization also used COVID dashboards to monitor its healthcare outcomes and provide insights into improving strategies in patient care.

The hospitals also stopped their elective activities and focused almost entirely on the management of the suspected and confirmed cases. As early as March, Aster Hospitals have launched a new tele-triage service, which provides 24/7 medical assistance to patients via remote communication. These initiatives helped Aster Hospitals address the challenge of keeping both its clinical and operational functions afloat while ensuring the safety of its staff and patients.
