The Battle Against Covid-19 : Al Zahra Hospital Dubai Arsenal of Approaches

Al Zahra Hospital launched a systematic campaign to ensure that best practices are implemented in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic. It issued two comprehensive guidelines to educate its staff about COVID-19 prevention, control, and management, and it has improved access to COVID-19 tests by establishing an in-house PCR testing center that could accommodate 300 swabs per day. It also put automated processes in place to ensure that test results are immediately entered into the government database, therefore improving efficiency and effectiveness.

To protect its staff from the virus, the hospital coordinated with multiple suppliers to guarantee an uninterrupted supply of personal protective equipment. PPEs were also provided to patients and visitors. It also launched a COVID-19 hotline which allowed patients to directly discuss their concerns with their doctors. Moreover, in order to ensure that non-COVID patients continued to receive adequate healthcare, the hospital rolled out a telemedicine service coupled with tele-pharmacy and home delivery of medications.
