Al Amiri Hospital
How a Kuwait Hospital used Digital Transformation to streamline patient care in the fight against COVID-19
Al Amiri Hospital rapidly digitized and transformed its services as soon as the pandemic started. Within a few months, it had set up an innovative Health Informatics Platform, which enabled a connected healthcare ecosystem and allowed the seamless delivery of services to patients.
This digital transformation has enabled Al Amiri Hospital to register more than 19,000 patients, conduct and 22,000 Chat sessions, 16,000 Telehealth sessions and deliver 9000 medication and consumables requests to patients in their homes. Within 48 hours of the lockdown, the digital platform Derwaza was made live for home delivery of medicines, consumables, and nutrition. A swab clinic and several services were also deployed soon after.
The Digital Team also implemented COVID-19 specific reporting and analytics tools and dashboards to help track trends and manage patients. This provided automatically generated reports on actual bed occupancy across all care units, allowing the hospital management team to make informed decisions about the hospital’s pandemic response.
This digital transformation was made possible by the dedication and flexibility of Al Amiri’s staff. It was also made possible by the support of its suppliers, who worked 24/7 to ensure that all systems were running at optimum performance.
