Advocate Aurora Health’s virtual health and communications programs, led by Kelly Jo Golson, Chief Marketing Officer
Prior to COVID-19, Advocate Aurora Health launched an easy-to-use, personalized platform that can be accessed anytime, anywhere through the LiveWell app. Therefore, as other hospitals scrambled to make virtual and digital options available when the United States entered lockdown, the hospital was in a much better position to quickly pivot to virtual care. Its pre-pandemic work allowed Aurora Health to become one of the first three health systems in the country to develop an AI-enabled symptom checker specifically for COVID-19. This has been used by over 165,000 people to date.
Through LiveWell, patients can access Symptom Checker – a chatbot powered by artificial intelligence and backed by a library of trusted clinical protocols. When someone feels ill and is deciding when and where to seek care, Symptom Checker acts as a digital concierge to help make the call. Advocate Aurora Health’s digital division teamed up with developers from Microsoft’s Healthcare NExT initiative to develop this interactive online tool.
Consumers can also access personalized wellness information including guided meditation, health news and healthy recipes, and search for convenient ambulatory care sites and physicians. LiveWell is also a health hub where consumers can chat with their physicians, schedule appointments, request prescriptions, view diagnostic tests and facilitate virtual visits.
The app is also available in Spanish, and features a specific symptom checker and evaluation tool for frontline clinical team members.
