Women in Leadership Forum

Despite representing 70% of the 43 million health care employees worldwide, women are still under-represented in senior leadership roles across the global health sector. As the healthcare industry faces increasing challenges and opportunities, particularly post-COVID-19, it is time to provide a safe and uplifting environment for women leaders in healthcare.

To this end, the IHF has established the Women in Leadership Forum (WLF), designed for senior female executives leading hospitals, healthcare service providers, and organizations in health-adjacent sectors to share experiences, build professional relationships and expand the voices of women in the workplace.

Purpose of the Women in Leadership Forum

The Women in Leadership Forum aims to build an international community of women leaders by raising global recognition of their skills and talents, as well as their impact across the healthcare sector. The Forum also aims to support female leaders in achieving their highest potential by offering them practical solutions to overcome issues and challenges that women are facing in the workplace.

Through a series of special events, including activities in support of International Women’s Day and an exclusive networking session at the IHF Hospital World Congress, the Forum enables opportunities for female leaders in the healthcare sector to come together and connect.

Over the coming months, more will be shared with IHF Members regarding the work of the Women in Leadership Forum. In the interim, if you have any questions related to the WLF, do get in touch with the IHF Secretariat.

Coming soon! Virtual event – Turning challenges into leadership opportunities

On 1 September 2022, the IHF’s Women in Leadership Forum will host a virtual event, in collaboration with Alumni Global, on Turning challenges into leadership opportunities.

All female healthcare leaders and managers working within health systems across the IHF’s membership are invited to this session, for free, to hear personal stories from successful female executives and to explore how we can build an equitable and inclusive workplace.

Visit the event page for full details, information about the speakers, and free registration.

International Women’s Day 2022

On International Women’s Day 2022, we celebrated the IHF Members around the world who are breaking down barriers to create healthcare workplaces free of bias and discrimination.

Thank you to our members for taking the time to share their messages and inspire; to listen and be even more inspired to stand for positive change and help #BreakTheBias.

Amongst the video messages, IHF President Deborah Bowen, President and Chief Executive Officer of the American College of Healthcare Executives, pays tribute to the courage, strength and purpose shared by women leaders in healthcare.
