Dame Gill Morgan becomes Chair of the Alzheimer’s Society in October 2013. She currently chairs the Clinical Board of the London Cancer Alliance and is Non-executive Chair of Compliwithus.
She was Permanent Secretary of the Welsh Assembly Government for over 4 years with responsibility for the 20 areas of devolved policy and a budget of £15bn.
Prior to this she was Chief Executive of the NHS Confederation for 6 years, ran a health Authority in Devon and was a Director of Public Health.
Gill is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and the Faculty of Public Health, a Member of the Royal College of General Practitioners and a Companion of the Chartered Management Institute. She holds an honorary doctorate in Science from the City of London University.
Gill was also the President of the Institute of Health Services Management in 1997-98.
She has served on a large number of national committees and working groups and is a past President of the International Hospital Federation.
Gill was appointed DBE in June 2004.
