Dr. Anna Riera is currently Head of International Affairs at Unió Catalana d’Hospitals, the Catalan Hospital, Health & Social Services Association, an association of hospital, health and social services that provide healthcare and social services for the public healthcare system in Catalonia. Her role there is to be promote international relationships and the development of the association, and to enhance the knowledge exchange and learnings about healthcare in a global setting.


Previously, Dr. Riera worked as a doctor, specialized in Internal Medicine, and worked as a healthcare consultant, developing strategic planning, healthcare services functional planning and business plan for healthcare services organizations, in Spain and abroad. She has always worked actively, along with providers, to improve public service systems.


Dr. Riera is a member of the Global Health Leadership Forum from the University of California Berkeley School of Public Health in partnership with Barcelona Graduate School of Economics and the Universitat Pompeu Fabra Economics and Health Research Center (CRES). She holds a degree in Medicine from Universitat Autónoma de Barcelona as well as a MBA from ESADE Business and Law School and Georgetown University, Executive Master’s in healthcare Organizations Leadership, Health and Health Care Administration and Management.


Dr. Riera became a member of the IHF Governing Council in November 2021.
