37th World Hospital Congress
Post Dubai Congress
The biennial World Hospital Congress of the International Hospital Federation (IHF) is the unique forum for leaders of national representative organizations in the health care sector to share and exchange strategic knowledge, information and ideas in health systems management, finance and delivery. The 37th edition of the Congress was held 8-10 November in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, the first city in the Middle East and North Africa region to host the biennial World Hospital Congress of the International Hospital Federation since its foundation in 1929. Governing Council Meetings and General Assembly Highlights
Governing Council members met on the 7th of November in Dubai as a pre-congress kick-off to discuss potential membership status changes, the IHF headquarter relocation, and reviewed the program for the General Assembly. Discussion surrounding membership status was lively and concerned how IHF organizes representation and how IHF co-opts countries. IHF's CEO also gave a report on the selling of IHF's headquarters in Ferney-Voltaire, France and the Governing Council unanimously approved the sale ofand relocation to offices in Geneva, Switzerland. As such, it was mentioned that progress is being made on developing a new Swiss constitution for IHF and streamlining its activities in preparation for the move. Feedback from the Audit and Finance Committees provided recommendations to adopt a model for sliding membership dues. The meeting ended with the Council approving applications for membership from the Hajj Medical Center and Atieh Hospital from Iran and wishing a farewell to departing Governing Council members: Dr. Pitan, Prof. Lapsley, Dr. Lai, M. Vincent, and M. Madani. All of them were congratulated for their active contribution to the development of IHF both at large and in their respective countries and regions. Read more (...)

The 10th Annual Hospital Management conference was hosted in Singapore. Having grown for several years, this conference's success has been due to a combination of growth in participation and the high level of attrition for those having participated in past editions. The Lilly MDR?TB Partnership, established in 2003, is comprised of more than 25 health organizations, academic institutions and corporations with the goal of combating the expanding global crisis of MDR-TB through the training of health care professionals, providing access to medicines and raising awareness. The Work of WHO in African Region 2010
The World Health Organization has defined its contribution to the global health agenda in its Medium Term Strategic Plan 2008-2013 (MTSP). The MTSP articulates 13 Strategic Objectives (SO) and Organization-Wide Expected Results (OWERs) for each SO. UNITAID Annual Report 2010
UNITAID was officially launched on 19 September 2006 in New York at the opening session of the United Nations General Assembly. UNITAID'S mission is to help increase access to treatment for HIV/AIDS, malaria and tuberculosis for people in developing countries by using market leverage to lower prices and increase availability of appropriate high-quality drugs and diagnostics.
