IHF Corporate Leadership Council
The IHF Secretariat wishes to provide a neutral platform for wide-ranging discussions on the improvement of healthcare. This neutral setting will allow stakeholders from widely different healthcare domains to meet regularly with hospital leaders and discuss issues of mutual concern. IHF is therefore instituting the Corporate Leadership Council (CLC) to respond to this need. Read more (...)

Increasing access to health workers in remote and rural areas through improved retention
This document proposes sixteen evidence-based recommendations on how to improve the recruitment and retention of health workers in underserved areas. It also offers a guide for policy makers to choose the most appropriate interventions, and to implement, monitor and evaluate their impact over time. As part of this program, IHF developed a country-case studies-based report, named 'Outreach services as a strategy to increase access to health workers in remote and rural areas' and currently in press. This paper, written by F. Koechlin, L. Lorenzoni and P. Schreyer and published in July 2010 (OECD Health Working Paper n°53) presents a new set of comparative prices for hospital services in a selection of OECD countries. The data is novel in that it reflects quasi-prices (negotiated or administrative prices or tariffs) of the output of hospital services. Read more (...)

Organizations that seek accreditation through Joint Commission International (JCI) are required to have a Human Resource department that is capable of evaluating the competence of those that care for patients. According to the JCI standards, HR management should help guarantee the high levels of quality necessary to maintain an environment that is safe for patients. This complex function consists of many processes, including needs assessment, selection, education and training, and evaluation.
